Hello, it's me
Sitting in a newly organized room with a eucalyptus aroma saturating the room gives me a kind of serenity in the midst of this chaotic world.
I haven't been writing for ages and I thought perhaps I could start again since writing (or blogging) does organize my thoughts. I am also surprised that I could still log in to my dusty blog and the fact that it still sort-of exists.
I read a book on "The New Species" by Greg Violi and this gave me a new perspective on my identity and my struggle with the old vs new self.
Did you know that our imaginations and thoughts are very powerful - making or breaking us, spurring us towards God or against God, a catalyst of our emotions and feelings?
The best way to describe God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit can be this. A thought birthed in God, our Father, and it is spoken by the Word himself, Jesus, and the Spirit executes it. In creating the world, all these thoughts and imaginations of how it will turn out to be started from God and then God says i.e., the Word and the Spirit just hover around the water and created it, according to the Word. This is why Jesus said that He does nothing that the Father does not do. He saw His Father's desire and thoughts.
This is why our imaginations are thoughts are powerful. When the people were united in their imagination to build the Tower of Babel to reach the heavens and God saw that it will actually happen just as their imaginations, He brought confusion. This shows how powerful our imaginations are, making it necessary that we take captive of our imaginations and our thoughts.
Imagine it as the navigator of the ship or the steering of a car.
What I form in my imagination becomes the thoughts that I think in my mind. As I ponder longer and think deeper about it, it takes root in my heart, affecting my feelings and emotions. With time, it starts to become part of me, my identity. So even if the thought is a lie, I believe that it is my truth as I validate it through circumstances in life as it forms as a lens of how I perceive the world.
That is why it is so important to take captive of my thoughts and bring them to the subjection of Christ. As God's children, we have the mind of Christ.
I want to train myself with my imaginations. As I evaluate my imaginations these days, I realize that many of them are focused on my prideful self. This awareness shocked me and revealed my heart's condition too.
Controlling and auditing my thoughts become a way to ensure that my heart is in check and bowing in humility before Christ, my King.
Jesus, may you renew my mind and not let my thoughts to be conformed by the patterns and culture of this world. But let me set my mind of the things above in the heavenly realm. Cleanse my thoughts and my heart, and clothe me with your humility and pure love. May my life and thoughts be led by the Holy Spirit and may the realities of the heavenly manifest in my natural realm. Amen

I remember this quote from the sermons I listened to when I was young
Watch your thoughts, they become your words.
Watch your words, they become your actions.
Watch your actions, they become your habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
And your character defines your destiny.
