lesson on hiking trip

i had an eventful day yesterday. not because of BERSIH rally though it was interesting keeping up with the news but i spent my day far away from the city i.e. in the jungle. there's this very famous hiking place at cheras hartamas, after MUCH pestering by friends, i reluctantly agreed to go, sacrificing my precious sleep! if you have been on a hiking trip with me, you know how sucky i am with it. not just hiking trip, just normal jogging, u'd know how lousy my stamina is.

so anyway, this ah pek hill that i went yesterday has 6 stages. after the 6th stage, take a 30 minutes hike then you'll reach a waterfall place. yesterday was my 2nd time there btw. let me describe my 1st time. i started very excitedly with the hike, not knowing what i got myself into. after 10 minutes or so, i was literally like, can we please go down? the hard part is not the track. because it's quite cleared since they're many, many people who hike there. the toughest part is the steepness. trust me, it was SUPER steep. 90 degrees. ok 83 degrees. (i am exaggerating, but it felt like one to me). so throughout the whole hike, i was with my super pale face, weak heart (my heart literally ached), pening kepala (Seriously!) and i was dog tired! i kept on complaining as i hiked, thinking that my friends would pity me and leave that place. but they were so adamant to go up (cruel too)! -.- i even complained that i want to go toilet! all excuses came up but to no avail, i just had to do it. and they were quite smart to sugar coat me. haha. anyway, after a longgggg hike, we finally reached a stop. i was so happy! i thought it was the 6th stop but my world crashed down when it was only the 1st!!! *faints* but i'm trapped up there, so ya, just need to continue hiking.

up to one point. i told myself. ok, i am going to hike up no matter what. i shall stop complaining and just hike. i can do this man! and i shut up and i hiked. ok, i am very proud to say that i reached the 4 1/2 stop.! give me a clap now! thank u

so yesterday was my 2nd time. from the start i told myself. ok, let me do this test. i know my stamina is still as lousy as the 1st time since i am a lazy girl who never really exercise. i will just play with my mind. i set my mind - focus! beatrice, you are not just going to reach the 6th stop but the waterfall and all the way back. yes, the road is hard but you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! and most importantly, stop complaining!

guess what? we hiked almost 3 hours up to the waterfall and about 2 1/2 hours back. and i did it! i really did it! it's amazing. ask me if i am tired? oh yes i definitely am! but this time the walk was different. instead of focusing on what i can't, i focused on what i can. i've got healthy limps man! so, lesson of the day is, the power of the mind determines your achievement. if you tell yourself you can't right from the start, you really can't. your spirit isn't right anymore especially when you start complaining about everything and finding all the excuses in the world.

no wonder the bible says,"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he" Proverbs 23:7. If you think you are lousy/ugly/can't do it etc., you really are! you lost 90% of the battle. many times it's just mind game. and devil knows it. he subtlety speaks to your mind and convince you that you can't do it and you are not precious. those are lies.

many motivational speakers always talk about positive thinking, yes it is good and all but beware that it actually falls back to yourself instead of God's power. it's about how you can do but not what God can do.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

May God transform your mind instead with His word as you meditate upon it and learning His will. His good and perfect will.

What to think then? I have always held this verse very dearly to me cause I have the most contradicting/controversial/shameless thoughts in the world.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8

In conclusion, dear friends. I hope that you won't be fooled by the people around you who told you all the negative things that you are not good and you can't do it. because the fact is, you haven't try. God is powerful. Oh, He really is. May His word and promises renew your mind!

Even as i look into the mirror when i wake up these few mornings, i am 'disgusted' with the reflection i saw in the mirror. A pallid, round, fleshy face with obvious dark circles around the tired looking eyes. When i looked further down, i am even more sickened! Excess fats enveloping my whole body!! ok, i think i'm talking like i'm aneroxic but yes, seriously! the fatest me was during starbucks period, but now i'm worst than that!! i'm supposed to be thinner when i enter uni, everyone does, except for me! ;(( and yes, i think i look so the horrible now! i feel like squeezing out all my fats! it's so frustrating when u pull out an old pants to wear, suddenly realizing that it became so tight that you've to use all ur strength and might to squeeze in ur tummy in order to button up ur pants! that's how bad it is now!! no wonder my family is ALWAYS nagging n bugging me about it! shattered my self confidence.. and so, beatrice has a goal now! which is to...
